Basement #1

For Christmas this year, Frankie and I decided we would start finishing our basement.  My dad has done a ton of the work considering this is what he does professionally.  We are really lucky to have his expertise and help!  My parents got us a Home Depot gift card for Christmas to help us along the way.  Because while my dad moves fast, our paychecks don't seem to go so far.

After framing comes the insulation.  It is the worst part.

Insulation went in and then we put up sound board to help with the noise.  I dont want to hear the boys when they are downstairs.

The framing begins.  This is looking into the tv room/man cave

Funny

Most days this is how I feel.  Something I am holding or sitting on appears out of nowhere, and I am completely shocked.

Family Pictures 2010

Frankie's cousin Angela is a wonderful photographer.  She is just getting into the business and takes some amazing pictures.  So we kindly asked her to take some for us so that we could put it on our Christmas card this year.  The picture we ended up using is the main picture on the blog, but these are cute too!  The pictures were taken around downtown Salt Lake City on a very sunny and extremely cold winter day.

TCU....what a mess

It took me a while to write about this game.  By this point I am guessing most of you saw the out come.  Utah was beat, not beat but trampled.  Frankie and I left by the end of the 3rd quarter.  However we started the day with the best intentions.

Here we are in the car on the way to the tailgate.  It was extremely early.  My husband dragged me out of bed by 8 am so that we could be there for ESPN Game Day.  I still have no idea what that actually means...really early tailgating I guess and lots of walking around.

Frankie in front of the ESPN sign.

Lots of people were there to support TCU.  I liked their purple flags.

At this point I am freezing.  However my husband would not walking back to the tailgate area because we had to wait for some guy to put an animal on his head.  Ok, ok I guess this ESPN guy puts the head of the mascot on to show his prediction of who was going to win the game.  He put on the TCU frog head and they won, so good for him.

Alex is here!

After a bumpy flight and an hour delay Alex made it.  Here is just a quick update of the things we have accomplished in 2 days.

We met Henry and Max at Incredible Pizza, that new place out in Draper.  Can I just tell you that Max is one of my very favorite people!  He was so great with Alex.  Alex thinks the world of him.  On a side note, his parents are two of my favorite people too!  After we left we went to Nordstrom to buy Alex his very first pair of Chuck Taylors.  He was very proud to say that he now has the same shoes and Henry and Max.

Frankie and Alex in the go carts.

One of the only things Alex wanted to do while he was here was to play in the snow.  Thankfully it snowed, not just snowed but dumped.  So Frankie and Alex had a "snow day".  I took pictures from the inside of the house while sipping hot coffee.

Alex sat down and wrote what might be his last letter to Santa Claus.  He just turned 7 and I don't know how much longer he will believe the story.  On the list, Starwars Legos and an Ipod.

We finished the day by playing Mario Kart at Bobby and Andrea's house.  Yes, his new shoes are on.

Alex in 5 Days!!

My cute husband can barely sit still.  His little (not so little, now 7 years old) boy gets here on Friday.  We have a whole week with him and have so many fun things planned.  This will be Alex's first time flying to Utah from California by himself.  Wish us luck!

The Rat

Sadly enough we have a rat in our home, oh but don't worry, it is dead.  How do we know this?  We can smell it! After our Halloween party (pictures coming soon) we noticed a strange smell in our basement.  Actually not in the basement, but in the stair down to the basement.  It wasn't bad at first, but a couple of days later it is horrible.  The dead rat must have gotten trapped in the wall and died.  I cant believe it!  My dad, who loves me, is going to cut a hole into our new walls to do some hunting.  I am terrified for him.  Dont worry, I will not post pictures!

Cougar Town

OK so maybe not Cougar Town but definitely Leopard City

My cute nail girl Sara did such a great job and she painted them all by hand!  Yes by hand!  I have gotten at least 5 complements on them.  I think I will do animal print forever.  Do you think she can do fish scales?

On a side note, Amber might be having a heart attack right now...I had better burn that Old Navy sweater for her just to equal things out!

70 and Counting

I was tricked, by my cousin, into making cupcakes for a baby shower.

Not just 12 or 24 cupcakes
70 cupcakes!

Chocolate cake w/vanilla butter cream
Vanilla/Almond cake w/chocolate butter cream
Fresh banana cake w/honey cinnamon cream cheese frosting

Alex Rides, Finally

Yesterday we got a video from Rachel, Alex's mom.  To our elated surprise, it was Alex riding a bike!  Frankie and I tried to teach him all summer long, on grass, on a hill, with both of us running along side, with grandpa, but none of it worked.  When Frankie called Alex to ask him what happened, Alex simply said that the seat on his bike at our house was too high.  That was that!  We can not wait to see him do it in person.  What a great gift, 2 days before his 7th birthday.  We are so proud!  Actual pictures soon to follow.

Amber's Birthday

Always well dressed and looking her best, strangely I have no pictures of Amber on her birthday.

The food was wonderful and the company was even better!  Love Your Guts!

And Yet More Cupcakes

I made these for my friend's daughter.  The fish and the gems are both rings, since it was a jewelry themed party.

My New (Long Term) Goal

I read something last Sunday that sent me into somewhat of a panic.  The Vatican is considering limiting or completely shutting down tours of the Sistine Chapel.  Why?  Well apparently all of the heat and sweat from the large numbers of tourists passing through the Chapel each year is causing it to flake and crumble.  Why does this panic me?  I have always want to see the Sistine Chapel.  Strange considering I am not a religious person, but I do love art and history.  I think it would be amazing to see.  You could go to one place and see original painting by some of the greatest Renaissance painters that ever lived.  So I am making a goal for Frankie and I, yes he also wants to go.  In the next 4 years we are going to Italy!

Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day was a busy weekend for us.  The big wedding was finally here!  Amanda Aragon (Frankie's cousin) and Justin Manchego (Frankie's good friend) finally got hitched!  Frankie was the best man and Bobby was in the wedding.  So Friday, while the boys were at the rehearsal, Andrea and I took ourselves to dinner.  Then we shopped for the wedding gift, stuff to decorate the newly weds car with, and painted our finger nails.  We always have a blast together!  Saturday was wedding day!!.  Here are some of my favorite pictures from the big day.

The bride, her mom, and a couple bridesmaids
By the time Sunday rolled around we were ready to relax.  Frankie had been off the whole week before because he doesn't start his new job until Wednsesday, the 8th, so he had already done all the yard work.  We had a few of his "out of town" family members over to see our house, did laundry, ordered pizza and went to bed.

Monday start off with a bang!  A day off work and breakfast at the Park Cafe with Amber, Henry, and Max.  Then we were on a hunt.  For what, you ask!  Well I finally agreed to go to the U of U football game with my husband this coming Saturday.  I dislike the cold, screaming people, and football which is why it took me so long to agree to go.  But my very smart husband promised to buy my a U of U shirt, and a sweatshirt, and a hat so that is what we hunted for.  So far, not much luck!  At least Saturday you will know where to find me.
