My Kitchen

We have found a dining room table, thanks to the help of Amber.  We have also picked a "style", also thanks to the help of Amber.  Amber, much like my dad, is very good at putting things together and then laying it all out so that I can picture it in my house.  It was also very helpful for her to help me pick a style, french country, so that I was not jumping all over the place with furniture and colors.

Yes yes I love it and so does Frankie.  This is the color we want it in too.  My kitchen is so dark that I think this cream color will really help to brighten it up.   There is also the most adorable little buffet that matches it.  I would like to get that too and put it in front of the iron rod stair case with a very cute designer chair on one side of it.

Frankie loves those huge "old" clocks.  So I am sure when we find the right one we will be adding that in somewhere too.

Book Club

My good friend Linsey started a book club last month and I wasn't sure if I was going to join, but then they decided to meet at a coffee shop so I went!  (on a side note - I LOVE, LoVe, LOVE coffee)
Linsey reads about 50 books a year, and everyone says she picks awesome books.  My only stipulation for the books was that no dogs/animals die in the books, so far so good.

Our first book was "Little Bee".  It was an easy read, very intriguing and fast moving.  I highly recommend it!

Series Update

I figured I had better update everyone on what is going on and where we are in this process. Just because we don't post about it often doesn't mean we don't think about it everyday. In short, no change really. For now the idea of getting pregnant has kinda gone out the window.  I think I have made my own decision as to how I feel about being pregnant and I have decided that the risks are just to high for my health, my mental stability, and the baby's health.  So if we want a child we will either adopt or get a surrogate.  Either way the price of doing either of those options is for to expensive right now so we will look into it again in a couple years.  So there is your update...hey at least we are making some type of progress.

Mother's Day Weekend

On Friday night I met a bunch of my girlfriends for dinner.  We went to Sawadee Thai downtown and it is now one of my favorite places to eat.  I love Thai food!  We mostly got together because we had not had a chance to do it for my birthday, so even better I got gifts too!  Dinner and gifts, oh joy!  After dinner some of us went to Salt Lake Roasting Company to get coffee and dessert.  We had lots of fun catching up and laughing.  I had to rush home because time had gotten away from me and we had to be up early the next morning for the cancer walk.

7:30 am bright and early!

This was the first year we did the Race for the Cure and it was amazing!  They said that there were 18,000 people there!  Can you believe it!  The feeling in the air was so positive and joyful.  Frankie, Bobby, Rose, Milly, Andrea and her family all came to walk with my office.  I am so proud to have been apart of such an uplifting thing!

Sunday - Mother's Day

First we went to church with Rose and then to brunch.  We ate so much that we were stuffed all day, which is not good because we had 3 more places to still visit.  Above is a picture of Bobby, Rose, and Frankie.  They all look so much alike.

Next we went to my Grandma's house for a Mother's Day/90th birthday celebration.  My Grandma Jen is sitting between Frankie and I in one of the pictures.  Doesn't she look amazing for 90?  Yeah she totally does!  There is also a picture of Amy, Hailey, me, and Frankie sitting on the swing.  We ate more food at this house too!

One of my very favorite things to do on holidays is visit dad and Kalyn (step-mom...AKA mom).  Why you ask?  Well because in general they are funny together.  Dad is always trying to leave town and mom is always trying to let him go.  So funny!  Another reason is because she is so thoughtful and always picks out the most special gifts.  Yes she even got me something for Mothers Day!  Maybe because she knows what it is like to have a wonderful, beautiful step-child.  Last blog I wrote and Juicy Couture and Dogeared jewelry, well both Kalyn and Monica got me new stuff!

The pic above is a collection of old and new!
The flower necklace is from Monica
for my b-day and the earrings were
my gift to myself. haha

This super cute "Karma" Dogeared stuff is from my mom and dad.  I can not wait to wear it!

My Secret Love

I guess it wont be a secret anymore.  I had to confess my love for little pieces of amazing jewelry.  I recently made a comment on facebook about a "Dogeared" necklace and people thought I wanted a necklace with doggy ears on it.  Weird but understand able.  These earrings are not "Dogeared" they are Juicy Couture and I have received both the bows and the white flowers as birthday gifts from my friends and I just love them!! I am putting the middle pair down on my list to get.  My very first pair were little diamond cherries that I got from Amber a few years ago but I recently I was wearing them and the back fell off and I lost one and now I am looking online to try and replace them.  Super heartbroken!!!!
The necklaces below are Dogeared necklaces.  They are beautiful and dainty and have the cutest little charms and they come with adorable little sayings.  Monica gave me my first and only one last year.  It is a silver chain with silver angel wings on it.  I wear it almost everyday!  It totally reminds me of my mom and I just adore it!

I also love this little Juicy Couture ring too....It matching the earrings

My Grandma's 90th Birthday

My mom's mother is turning 90 years old on May 6th and she still looks amazing! My cousins (Amy and Jenny) and I wanted to do something very special for her this year, so we decided to take on a huge project.  My grandfather (Dee) was in World War II and his mother, Grace, put together a scrapbook for him spanning 1941 to 1945.  I mean this book had pictures, newspaper clippings, my grandpa and grandma's wedding announcement, my aunt's birth announcement, a layout of their first house, old menus (see food dinners were $.70 - yes I typed that correct), his military paycheck for 1944 ($8,000 for the year), his Silver Star letter, I mean every single thing you could think of.  However because the book was so old and everything was glued to acid paper it was falling apart.  The girls and I decided to re-scrapbook it.  It took months, many color copies, and a lot of money.  We were worried that grandma would either kill us for cutting it up or love it.  Good news!  She loved it!  We took her to the Beehive Tea Room on Saturday for a little celebration and gave the book to her then.

In the picture above, my 90 year old granny is at the far left end with the beautiful blonde hair.  She is very much a bombshell and she will tell you that blondes have more fun!

Jenny is showing my aunt DeeAnn how she made a little pocket on one of the scrapbook pages to put grandpa's military ID in.  Amy, Hailey, Jenny and I got very creative during the process and Hailey even made a band-aid from scratch!
